This page features charities / organizations I support. Just a few bucks and we can ALL make a difference! Some may say there are more important things you set aside your money for. I totally understand that, we all have our priorities. But here are some tips on how to start changing the world, one click at a time :)
I have monthly bills too and it is hard to budget my funds. However, I do admit I have the tendency to spend money on not-so-important stuff. I realized that and thought, “Hey! Maybe if I minimize or even STOP buying these things I’ll have extra money.”
1. Going out EVERY weekend, even on weekdays – I used to do this all the time. I thought about it and realized that in 1 night I spend a ton of money on: maybe a new top or dress, or a new pair of earrings, then buy dinner, drinks, parking, gas, etc. BUT if I just decide to stay in for 1-2 weekends a month, I’d be able to save not only a few bucks, but my liver too!
2. Loose change – I have a cheap tumbler at home I don’t use and decided to start put coins in it every day, whatever I have in my wallet, even 1 cent. I can start using that money too to donate!
3. Little tweaks in your lifestyle can help too – There’s a coffee vending machine at work that sells 8peso-worth of my favorite drink. Since there is a free supply of instant coffee at the pantry too, I’ll start bringing my own mug at the office and make my own. That’s 8pesos X 22 working days = 176pesos (around $4.50).
What I try to do personally is to donate to at least one charity a month. Hey, it doesn’t have to be a big amount. I even only donated to Shelterbox last month GBP 1.00! (yeah because I’ve been using my card non-stop during the holidays). But I know that money will help someone, somewhere and that is awesome :) I do believe each and everyone has the heart to care and the ability to take action, even in the smallest way.
Anyway, I choose to give monetary aid via online donations (on, I pray to God, a regular basis) because I simply don’t have the time, and that when I do (which is very seldom), I really just want/need to rest. I look forward to making time for it though, hopefully soon!
For the rest out there who think online donating is not for you, no need to even donate online. If you have access to charities in your area go ahead! :) I also join some benefit marathons here in the Philippines when I have the extra money, and the extra motivation to beat my personal record. Fund raising events are fun, and you meet new people! Or better yet, go VOLUNTEER! <3
ANY help WILL create change, to make this world BETTER, and ALL OF US HAVE THAT POWER! (okay, I just rhymed there…)
SO here are some of the organizations I support. I’ll start adding on to the list when I can, so you (and I) have a quick reference in the future. Happy Helping!
